TITLE: A New Application for Nanomaterials: Consolidating Monumental Stones (MAT2007-60681)

The aim of this project was to avoid the drawbacks of the commercial stone consolidants by adding a surfactant to starting sol. Moreover, the new materials present hydrophobic properties.

   
 

TITLE: Optimization of Sol-Gel Consolidants. Application to the Stone Conservation" (MAT2004-00801)

The aim of this project was to avoid the drawbacks of the commercial stone consolidants by adding a surfactant to starting sol. The surfactant reduces the capillary pressure, responsible of consolidants cracking.

   
 

TITLE: Optimization of Sol-Gel Consolidants. Application to the Stone Conservation (MAT2003-00829)

FINANCIATION: Materials Spanish Programme Project

DURATION: 2003-2004

Principal Investigator: María J. Mosquera

The aim of this project was to avoid the drawbacks of the commercial stone consolidants by adding silica colloid particles to TEOS. Colloid particles increases the gel pore size, and subsequently reduce the capillary pressure responsible of consolidants cracking.
